So I have been non-stop painting/bookmaking etc. Screenplays yup, a lot.

Anyway so this first Friday is the Downtown Peepholes, mine will be at Bon Ami Confections, so you better be there to peek inside.

So far I am currently working on two paintings and getting ready to shoot four more photos for the last four paintings that go with my latest collection for BFA. I am also working on books for installation other than the peephole which is finished, just needs to be installed. The two books I am currently constructing are for a group installation and a solo one. The group one is a leather bound book that will feature photos I purchased from an antique shop to recreate the main woman’s story, it goes along with the theme of the Muse of which this woman is. The second book is a literature based installation where I have constructed an altered book out of the Bell Jar and viewers will be able to interact with the book by pulling out poems by Plath and myself. This is the second interactive book I have made, its nice to be able to invite the viewer although I still fear sticky dirty hands touching my art.

Other projects I have been working on are figure painting and screenwriting. This is the first time I have ever written screenplays and its so much fun, I knew when I wasn’t really making the A mark in Video Art that I was a “filmmaker” rather than a “video artist” although I consider the two the same thing, but some people do not… Anyway I had a feeling taking screenwriting would open the right doors for what I wanted to do with film, so I’m glad its working out! I’ve been writing about my cyclops’ so its great to give them a greater purpose than just being still images on a page, there is now a story and dialogue for them which expands their meaning farther creating an even more meaningful narrative for them.

Here is my final sculpture piece, “Diet Chronicles of Hypothyroidism”. This sculpture’s small book centers around the daunting repetitive reminder of getting fat and trying to stay skinny while dealing with Hypothyroidism. The book sits is a nest like the actual pituitary glad sits among the interior of the head. The big book is altered from an anatomy book, the next is stitched out of the Endocrine chapter, and also represents women’s fertility and how its a crucial part of being treated for hypothyroidism and how we have higher risks of miscarriages, the book also features three vaginas, on the front and back where the pages meet in the center great vagina’s while the nest on top is also a vagina. The book is painted with watercolor, acrylic, and iridescent watercolor medium, and is sewn together with various colors of embroidery thread. The small book is made with wood, book cloth, Moleskine, 90lb drawing paper, candy wrappers, and a cereal box.

This weeks progress. I am going to start paintings the two 8×10’s this weekend and hopefully get some more drawings and observations done in my journal and get some more progress on my family heritage books. I also drew Marie Antoinette’s children to go in these tiny approx. 2×3 frames.

So another batch of Marie Antoinette Drawings, I only have 10 left to draw. It’s so weird, that when Im done I think its about 48 drawings I will have of her, and then I am going to separate 5×7’s by 8×10’s to plan out how many frames of which sizes I will need to buy. Yes, they are all being framed, I will not leave any one of them out of this journey!

Also I have finished painting my rubber mould head that I made out of clay etc. etc. you will see in the slideshow!

btw, Went to the “Cummer” today. I just jizz in my pants when I see those glazed paintings.

I finally finished my book “Marie Antoinette Poems”, took forever, although really two weeks is not forever, but it required A LOT of hours to complete. The cards were a nightmare, originally there was not going to be vellum on the back, I was going to hand write the poems, but it proved disastrous on the first card, so I had to go into “make it work mode” and figured painting the backs all gold and printing out the poems in vellum and cutting them out and gluing them onto the gold backs would work, and it did THANK GOD! Anyway I have counted how many times I have cut this fancy little shape of a french rococo frame, 17 times, and that’s counting the two templates.

Each poem was written by me in the point of view of Marie Antoinette of which follows her life, struggles and triumphs in chronological order.

I also made a cute little matching pouch to hold the book, its adorable and cute and I wish it was a real clutch out of fabric so I could use it for everyday items!
